Description
- Performs diagnostic general radiological procedures using various imaging equipment.
- Acquires and processes patient exams per departmental protocols and accreditation/manufacturer guidelines.
- Reviews cases, labs, and patient history to ensure correct exams and consults with radiologists as needed.
- Administers IV, oral, and rectal contrast materials, and monitors for adverse/allergic reactions.
- Screens for potential pregnancy and conducts pregnancy testing when indicated.
- Ensures radiology orders are complete and accurate; obtains additional information when necessary.
- Critiques images for positioning, technical quality, and alignment; reviews and verifies patient data.
- Transfers and verifies images in PACS; ensures relevant medical history is included for interpretation.
- Uses email/web systems to send exams for after-hours preliminary readings.
- Maintains imaging equipment, supplies, and a clean, orderly work area; reports equipment issues promptly.
- Promotes safety for patients, visitors, and staff; reports safety events or near misses immediately.
- Assists in training students and new staff; may serve as Rad Tech Lead or Imaging Coordinator as needed.
- Meets department productivity benchmarks and supports other areas during downtime.
- Performs duties in other imaging modalities as licensed and cross-trained.
- Complies with requirements for cross-trained modalities as needed.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and initiative in improving the work environment.
- Manages multiple tasks while coordinating patient flow and technical procedures.
- Required education: Associate’s Degree or Certificate in Radiologic Technology.
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA), IEMA Radiography License (Illinois), ARRT (R).
- Schedule: Evening shifts (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM), 10 hours per day.
- Must be fluent in English (speak, read, write).
