Job Summary (Registered Nurse – CVICU):

- Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill cardiac and cardiovascular patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).
- Monitor and assess patients with complex cardiac conditions, recognizing and responding to changes in clinical status.
- Operate and manage advanced equipment such as ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and hemodynamic monitors.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and cardiac medications as prescribed.
- Care for patients before and after cardiac surgeries and procedures (e.g., CABG, valve replacements).
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, identify arrhythmias, and respond to life-threatening changes.
- Manage patients receiving vasopressors, inotropes, and continuous infusion medications.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and accurately document findings and interventions.
- Assist with critical procedures including intubation, central line placement, and bedside cardiac procedures.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations such as code blue.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team (physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, etc.).
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, and recovery processes.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control, and patient safety protocols.
