Job Summary (Surgical Technologist / OR Tech):

- Prepare and maintain the operating room environment for surgical procedures.
- Set up and arrange sterile instruments, equipment, and surgical trays according to each procedure.
- Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection-control and aseptic techniques.
- Assist surgeons and nurses by passing instruments and supplies during surgeries.
- Anticipate surgeon’s needs and ensure the availability of required instruments and equipment.
- Perform and document surgical counts of instruments, needles, and sponges before and after procedures.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including proper positioning and skin preparation.
- Safely assist with transferring and positioning patients on the operating table.
- Handle, label, and transfer surgical specimens appropriately.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot basic surgical equipment issues.
- Assist with draping, gowning, and gloving of the surgical team.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to surgical procedures and supplies used.
- Clean, disinfect, and restock the operating room after procedures.
- Comply with hospital policies, OSHA regulations, and patient safety protocols.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesia staff, and other OR personnel.

Requirements:

- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred or required depending on facility.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Recent experience working as a surgical technologist in an operating room setting.
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation.
