RN – Wound Care | Job Description

Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Wound Care
Specialty: Wound Care / Wound Management

Job Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and manage patients with acute and chronic wounds.
• Perform comprehensive wound assessments, including wound type, size, depth, drainage, and surrounding skin condition.
• Develop and implement individualized wound care plans.
• Perform wound treatments, dressing changes, debridement support, and other wound-care procedures within scope of practice.
• Monitor wounds for signs of infection or complications and communicate changes to the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and treatments related to wound management as ordered.
• Educate patients and families on wound care, nutrition, pressure injury prevention, and home-care instructions.
• Collaborate with physicians, wound-care specialists, therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate wound-care documentation and update patient records in the EMR.
• Follow infection-control, safety, and facility policies.
• Provide education and guidance to nursing staff regarding wound prevention and treatment.
• Monitor patients at risk for pressure injuries and implement appropriate prevention measures.

Requirements

• Active RN license for the applicable state.
• Current BLS certification.
• Recent wound-care experience preferred.
• Experience with pressure injuries, diabetic wounds, surgical wounds, venous/arterial ulcers, and other complex wounds preferred.
• Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
