Job Summary (List Format): Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Emergency Department

- Provide patient care in an acute care/emergency department setting with minimal orientation and supervision
- Place intravenous (IV) lines and perform phlebotomy
- Greet patients, direct them to exam rooms, and prepare for examinations
- Assist during medical exams, set up trays for injections, measure and record patients’ progress, take and record vital signs
- Support general office duties, including reception, appointment scheduling, filing, and chart preparation
- Contact insurance companies to obtain authorizations for procedures (physical therapy, MRI, CT, surgery, etc.)
- Communicate with primary care physicians to secure or extend patient referrals
- Assist physicians with patient care and clinical procedures, including administering injections and assisting with pap smears and other tasks
- Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas in a clean and organized manner
- Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for documentation and patient care activities
- Implement nursing care activities as directed by the primary or associate nurse, following the nursing care plan
- Observe and report patient responses to treatments and interventions
- Participate in nursing unit management activities
- Work every other weekend and some holidays as required

Qualifications:
- Current New York State LPN license
- CPR certification (or ability to obtain/renew)
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (inpatient setting preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Prior ED experience required
