ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (4 shifts of 12 hours each, 19:00 - 7:30)
Contract Length: 13 weeks (minimum new contracts and extensions)


Job Details

  • Unit: Medical ICU (possibility of switching to Cardiothoracic ICU)
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 contracted hours per week
  • Weekend Requirement: Varies based on unit needs
  • Floating: May be floated within scope to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED, and PACU to care for admitted patients
  • Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
  • Locals: Not accepted within 100-mile radius
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Absences greater than 7 days require approval
  • Overtime: After 48 hours per week on contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
  • Minimum 1.5 years of experience in Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), with MICU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Special Requirements & Equipment

  • Care of specialty equipment such as CRRT, ECMO, Impella, IABP requires device certification
  • Telemetry monitoring experience required
  • Ventilator management experience required

Facility & Work Environment

  • Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Short-term acute care
  • Total staffed beds: 554
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Parking: No fee

Additional Notes

  • New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks
  • A 6-month break is required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of cumulative work, whichever comes first
  • Travelers may be asked to switch units within ICU specialties; current contract terms will be honored if reassigned
  • Valid non-local driver’s license required (identification cards not accepted)
  • Location is not near public transportation; candidates must have reliable transportation arrangements
