Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Riverview, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in a hybrid lab performing both Cardiac Cath and Interventional Radiology (IR) cases (no neuro or structural heart cases).
- Strong cardiac catheterization (Cath lab) experience required; IR experience preferred.
- Daily caseload: approximately 25 cases per tech.
- Shift: Day shift, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM (4x10 hour shifts).
- On-call required: 1 week on call followed by 2 weeks off; call team includes 2 RNs and 2 Techs.
- No floating outside the unit or to sister facilities.
- Locals accepted; first-time travelers accepted.
- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted).
Required Skills & Procedures
- Scrub, monitor, and circulate general Cath lab skills.
- Balloon angioplasty, PCI, stents, thrombectomy, coil embolization, filter placement.
- Pacemaker/defibrillator device placement, Impella insertion, left and right heart catheterization.
- Thoracentesis, peripheral vascular studies (upper/lower extremity, abdominal, pelvic, genitourinary).
- Venous access and rhythm interpretation including sinus node rhythms, Holter monitoring, EKG experience.
- Baseline measurements and programming/insertion of AICDs and pacemakers.
- STEMI call and IR covered by the same call team.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Florida.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
- ACLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Interventional Radiology experience preferred.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including:
- Standard 7-year history, SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Foreign equivalency evaluation required if education completed outside USA or Puerto Rico.
- Education verification required for all healthcare professionals.
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting).
- Physical exam within 6 months of start date.
- Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 10 weeks of start; chest X-ray if prior positive PPD.
- Annual TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test.
- Immunizations or titers required for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination accepted).
- Standard 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination accepted with mask requirement during flu season.
- Respirator medical clearance annually if respirator use is required.
- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted).
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam (score 80%+).
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (100% lethal arrhythmia score required).
- Color blind testing (Relias online exam) prior to start.
- Stroke education CEUs (8 total credits required for certain units; verify if applicable).
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification if applicable.
- BayCare online learning modules must be completed prior to start (4-8 hours).
- Photo for badge required prior to start (clear, professional, solid background).
- Facility-specific policies including dress code, tobacco policy, and privacy policies must be acknowledged.

- Guaranteed hours apply after first call off per pay period.

- Charting system: Cerner EMR preferred.
- Facility type: Short Term Acute Care with 223 staffed beds.
- Scrub color: Royal Blue.
