Job Opportunity: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)

Location

  • Fayetteville, North Carolina

Employment Type

  • Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • Night shift (4 shifts of 12 hours each, 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM)
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • No on-call required
  • Floating within scope between like units as needed
  • No block scheduling accommodation
  • Locals not accepted (must be outside a 50-mile radius from main campus)

Job Requirements

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Current, valid Respiratory Therapist license (must be renewed if expiring the month of start)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Military only; must be renewed if expiring the month of start
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Military only; must be renewed if expiring the month of start
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Military only; must be renewed if expiring the month of start
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - must be renewed if expiring the month of start
  • National tech certification verification (if applicable) must be current and renewed if expiring the month of start
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam - required and must be renewed annually
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - must pass with 80% or higher within 3 attempts; remediation required if failed first attempt

Required Health and Background Documentation

  • Background check within 6 months of start (including SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable)
  • Education verification related to specialty (high school verification not accepted)
  • Physical exam within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C; must be updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (no declinations accepted for new candidates)
  • Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccine required year-round; medical or religious exemptions must be approved by the facility and resubmitted annually
  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required but documentation is accepted if available

  • Must complete and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:
    • Job description acknowledgment
    • Confidentiality and information agreement
    • Patient identification agreement
    • Conflict of interest questionnaire
    • Staff call out acknowledgment
    • Corporate code of conduct acknowledgment
    • Policy tech access acknowledgment
    • Professional appearance acknowledgment
    • Emergency contact form
    • Parking registration (if driving to work)
    • Computer use acknowledgment
  • Photo for badge: professional passport-style photo with solid background required; no large earrings, face jewelry, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless for religious reasons
  • Completion of mandatory orientation and training modules prior to start

Other Notes

  • Candidates must be comfortable working with both pediatric and adult ICU patients
  • Call-off policy: 2 shifts allowed off per 13-week assignment; after that, all contracted hours are guaranteed
  • Facility enforces strict policies on certifications and testing; all must be current and valid at start date

This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists seeking a night shift travel contract in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment with pediatric and adult ICU exposure.
