Registered Nurse Cardiovascular

Location

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Job Summary

Provide nursing care under general supervision to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex on a mixed cardiovascular unit. The unit includes 24 beds divided equally between Step-Down and Medical-Surgical patients.

Responsibilities

Manage an assigned group of patients.
Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments.
Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
Obtain and monitor physiological data; intervene as necessary.
Administer medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products.
Deliver competent patient care.
Communicate care plans and hospital procedures to patients and families.
Make referrals for patient care needs.
Delegate tasks to support staff.
May interpret EKGs, monitor rhythms and rates.
Collaborate with cardiac rehabilitation, education, and discharge planning teams.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Oklahoma.
Minimum 1 year of experience in Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year.
Experience in Cardiovascular Unit (CVU).
Cardiology experience.
Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Familiarity with chest tubes.
Familiarity with drips.
