Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in a very large, busy Emergency Department (Non-Trauma) with high acuity patients.
- Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics.
- Stroke and STEMI certified unit.
- Unit size: 59 beds, averaging 165-175 patients per day.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4.
- Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM).
- Electronic medical record system: Epic (required).
- Medication dispensing system: Pyxis.
- Scrub color: Navy Blue.
- Return to Office (RTO) maximum: 7 days.
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend.
- Floating: Rare, only within facility and scope of practice.
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it.
- If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both.
- If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them.
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day.
- Orientation: Bi-weekly schedule; full compliance required to start on time or assignment start may be delayed by 2 weeks.
- Locals accepted at the same rate.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current certifications prior to start:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.
Additional Information
- Return to Office blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th).
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment).
- Candidate clinical screening required to determine clinical fit before final manager approval.
- Candidate must review and sign facility code of conduct and dress/professional appearance policies prior to start.
This position offers a challenging and fast-paced environment for experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses who meet the certification and licensure requirements and are ready for a travel contract assignment.
