Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Nights

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in Med-Surg/Telemetry
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs between like units
  • Block Scheduling: Open to accommodation
  • Locals: Not accepted (must be outside a 50-mile radius from the main campus)
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; all contracted shifts guaranteed after that
  • Return Staff Policy: Must be off assignment for 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (one extension allowed), then must be off for 6 months before returning

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Military only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Military only
  • NIH Stroke Certification (updated annually)

Required Competencies

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual renewal required)
  • Pass/Fail Testing for EKG/Medication awareness (3 attempts allowed with remediation required after first failure)

Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
  • License must be current and not expiring the month of assignment start (renew prior to start if expiring)

Background and Health Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months of start (includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable)
  • Physical exam within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Drug screen: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • TDAP (within last 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative or equivocal)
    • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted)
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31) or approved medical/religious exemption (facility-specific form required)
  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required but documentation is accepted if available

  • Short-term acute care hospital
  • Level III Trauma Center and Teaching Hospital
  • Total staffed beds: 733
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrub colors: Royal blue and white

  • Must complete facility-specific documents prior to start, including but not limited to:
    • Job description acknowledgment
    • Confidentiality and information agreement
    • Patient identification agreement
    • Conflict of interest questionnaire
    • Staff call out acknowledgment
    • Corporate code of conduct acknowledgment
    • Policy tech access acknowledgment
    • Professional appearance acknowledgment
    • Emergency contact form
    • Parking registration (if driving)
    • Photo for badge (passport-style, professional, no large earrings, face piercings, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings except religious)
  • Background check convictions within the last year or open/active cases will disqualify candidate
  • Candidates must complete required online modules prior to start (due Monday before start date)
  • Flu exemption forms must be resubmitted annually
  • Return travelers must adhere to system’s contract limits and return policies

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg/Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
