Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Care Unit (MCU) - Nights

Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Description

• Medical Care Unit (MCU) serves patients who are less acute and may be awaiting placement to long-term care facilities.
• Patient diagnoses are varied, including geriatric, medical/surgical, adult, telemetry, and psychiatric issues.
• The unit is shared with Inpatient Rehab; nurses may float between MCU and Inpatient Rehab, which provides intense rehab services.
• Telemetry experience is preferred.
• Care delivery follows the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation in coordination with the healthcare team.
• Occasional on-call availability may be required during low census periods; if called in, must respond and arrive onsite within one hour.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 2 years of rehabilitation nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent rehabilitation experience within the last year.
• Medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records (EMR) system.

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• The role involves working with diverse patient populations including those with psychiatric issues and telemetry monitoring.
• Nurses must maintain professional standards and effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

This position is ideal for an RN with recent EPIC EMR experience in a similar setting, comfortable with telemetry patients, and able to work night shifts in a mixed acuity environment.
