ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Fayetteville, North Carolina
Position Overview
- Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
- Location: Fayetteville, NC
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Patient Ratio: 1:2-3
- Facility Type: Short-term acute care, Level III Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital
- Total Staffed Beds: 733
- Charting System: Epic
- Scrub Color: Royal blue and white
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Job Requirements & Conditions
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Must float within scope to like units as needed
- Block Scheduling: Facility is open to accommodating block scheduling
- Local Candidates: Not accepted if within 50-mile radius of main campus
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
- Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (one extension allowed), then must be gone for 6 months before returning
- Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; all contracted shifts beyond that are guaranteed
Additional Notes
- Interview Availability: Must be provided upon submission
- Photo for Badge: Professional passport-style photo required without large earrings, face piercings, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings (unless religious)
- Facility Orientation: Expect to be in orientation for most of the first Monday; report time 6:30 AM
- Flu Season: 2025-2026 flu season runs from August 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026; vaccine documentation must include detailed info (name, manufacturer, lot #, etc.)
- COVID-19 Vaccines: Not required but accepted if available
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity ICU setting within a large trauma and teaching hospital, requiring strong critical care skills, certifications, and compliance with rigorous facility policies and health requirements.
