MRI Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shifts:
    • Thursday 10:30 AM - 11:00 PM (Orthopedic Hospital)
    • Friday 10:30 AM - 11:00 PM (Orthopedic Hospital)
    • Saturday 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (Main Facility)
  • Total Hours per Week: 36 hours
  • No call requirement
  • Float between Orthopedic Hospital (Thursday and Friday) and Main Hospital (Saturday)
  • Must be available for unit and hospital orientation (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM) during the first week
  • Scrubs color: Royal blue
  • Assigned to Storm/Hurricane Team; may be required to work during catastrophic events or disasters
  • Patient population includes adolescents, adults, geriatrics (preferred familiarity with neonates, infants, pediatrics)
  • Equipment used: GE, Siemens MRI machines
  • Unit systems: EPIC for medication, documentation, and communication
  • Scheduling based on unit needs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid MRI Technologist license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an MRI Technologist
  • MRI Technologist experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
  • Experience working with adolescent patients
  • Experience working with adult patients
  • Experience working with geriatric patients

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills in chest imaging and image post-processing

Orientation & Start Details

  • Orientation attendance is mandatory; missing any portion may delay or cancel start
  • Start date is subject to change based on class and trainer availability
  • Travelers must be fully available with no other commitments during orientation week
  • Final start date confirmed the Tuesday prior to the start week

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months for clinical candidates
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (with exceptions for past positives)
  • Required immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Physical exam and references required per travel agency standards
  • Radiation badge required for applicable techs (MRI techs typically not required unless specified)
  • Mandatory facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, medication safety training, and annual compliance training
  • Photo for badge must be submitted immediately after signing contract (passport style, solid white background, business attire)
  • Must complete facility-specific education modules and orientation checklists

Additional Notes

  • No return to office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
  • Contract staff may be reassigned mid-contract based on facility needs
  • Candidates must complete all required competency exams and certifications as per facility and travel agency policies
  • Candidates must complete the Corp ID and I-Learn account setup within 24 hours of receiving instructions to avoid start delays

This position is ideal for experienced MRI Technologists with prior travel experience who are flexible with scheduling and able to work in a dynamic hospital environment with a focus on radiology and cardiology imaging.
