Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

  • Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Unit type: Cardiac Telemetry
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
  • Unit census: 16 beds, average daily census of 16
  • Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Weekends: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
  • Call: None
  • Holidays: Expected to work 1 or 2 major holidays if they fall during assignment; 3 holidays require working 2 of them
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly; maximum 7 days to report to orientation (RTO)
  • Electronic systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum of 1 year of telemetry experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Experience in charge nurse roles
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (agency requirement)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Highly recommended but not required
  • TB testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; if positive, additional documentation required
  • TB questionnaire: Required annually regardless of TB test result
  • Drug screen: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable
  • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
  • Facility-specific documents: Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start

Additional Information

  • Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment, 19 hours for 19-week assignment)
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; non-compliance may delay start by 2 weeks due to orientation scheduling
  • RTO blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th)

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized cardiac telemetry unit with a supportive team and structured orientation, ideal for RNs with at least one year of experience in cardiac telemetry or related acute care settings.
