Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Nights
Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs between like units
- Block Scheduling: Open to accommodating
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
- On-call: Not required
- Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; all contracted shifts beyond that are guaranteed
- Return Staff Policy: Must be off assignment for 1 year to return as a traveler
- Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (one extension allowed), then must be off for 6 months before returning

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Health Requirements
- Background check required within 6 months of start (includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable)
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Drug test: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (specific substances listed)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- TDAP (within last 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative or equivocal)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative or equivocal)
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (8/1 to 3/31) or approved medical/religious exemption (facility-specific form required)
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required but accepted if available

- Parking Registration (if driving to work)
- Computer Use Acknowledgement
- Photo for badge: Clear, professional passport-style photo required (no large earrings, face piercings, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless for religious reasons)
- Completion of mandatory orientation and modules prior to start (modules due the Monday before start date)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be willing to comply with the facility’s return staff and contract limits policies.
- Background checks with convictions or active cases within the last year will result in cancellation.
- Candidates must be prepared for competency testing with a maximum of three attempts allowed.
- Flu vaccine declinations are not accepted without approved exemption forms.
- Facility enforces strict documentation and certification renewal policies; all certifications expiring the month of start must be renewed prior to starting.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment with a focus on Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing during night shifts.
