Registered Nurse — Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum

Location

Charlotte, North Carolina

Contract

13 weeks
36 hours per week
Night shift, 3x12 hours: 18:45–07:15

Unit Overview

LDRP unit with low-risk obstetric patients
May occasionally float, but not frequently
Call may be required if census is low
Weekend shifts required: 8 per contract

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
2 years of Post Partum experience
Post Partum experience within the last year
BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring
Ability to circulate in the operating room
Antepartum care including sterile speculum exam, NST, OCT, reflex checks, edema assessment, clonus assessment, and sterile vaginal exam
Triage of obstetrical patients
External and internal fetal monitoring
IUPC (intrauterine pressure catheter) use
Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
Administration of blood and blood products
Anticoagulant administration
Insulin drip administration
Magnesium sulfate therapy

AWHONN Advanced
Triage experience

Antepartum care
L&D
Level 1 nursery
IV start
Telemetry
Circulating in the OR for C-sections
PACU recovery
Fetal monitoring
Neonatal care in the delivery room
Newborn care
Postpartum care
Surgical procedures including cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation

Orientation

24 hours total
Hospital orientation plus 2 unit shifts
Must be available for classes each day
