Registered Nurse — Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum

Location

  • Charlotte, North Carolina

Contract

  • 13 weeks
  • 36 hours per week
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours: 18:45–07:15

Unit Overview

  • LDRP unit with low-risk obstetric patients
  • May occasionally float, but not frequently
  • Call may be required if census is low
  • Weekend shifts required: 8 per contract

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • 2 years of Post Partum experience
  • Post Partum experience within the last year
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
  • EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring
  • Ability to circulate in the operating room
  • Antepartum care including sterile speculum exam, NST, OCT, reflex checks, edema assessment, clonus assessment, and sterile vaginal exam
  • Triage of obstetrical patients
  • External and internal fetal monitoring
  • IUPC (intrauterine pressure catheter) use
  • Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Administration of blood and blood products
  • Anticoagulant administration
  • Insulin drip administration
  • Magnesium sulfate therapy

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS
  • AWHONN Advanced
  • Triage experience

Skills and Clinical Experience

  • Antepartum care
  • L&D
  • Level 1 nursery
  • IV start
  • Telemetry
  • Circulating in the OR for C-sections
  • PACU recovery
  • Fetal monitoring
  • Neonatal care in the delivery room
  • Newborn care
  • Postpartum care
  • Surgical procedures including cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation

Orientation

  • 24 hours total
  • Hospital orientation plus 2 unit shifts
  • Must be available for classes each day

Additional Notes

  • Locals are accepted
  • Scrubs provided: blue
  • Interview required before offer
