Job Details

• Job Title: Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist

• Location: Willis, TX

• Setting: School-Based

• Schedule: Part-Time, 8 hours/week

• Contract Length: 2026-2027 School Year

• Candidate Type: Local and traveler friendly

• Preferred: School-based experience preferred.

• Requirements: ACVREP Orientation & Mobility Certification (COMS) and valid Texas state credentials required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive orientation and mobility evaluations to assess students' spatial awareness, travel skills, and environmental navigation.

• Provide direct instruction in safe, independent travel techniques across school, home, and community environments.

• Teach concepts related to spatial orientation, cane skills, route planning, and environmental cues tailored to visually impaired students.

• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and TVIs to support safe navigation and access within educational settings.

• Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to functional travel goal development, and maintain compliant progress reports.
