Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week; 13–26 week assignments available
Highlights:
- Post-cardiac and thoracic surgery step-down unit with a diverse case mix including CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, and vascular procedures
- Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical step-down, 1:5–6 for lower acuity patients
- Epic EMR system with 24-hour unit orientation provided
- Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4 weeks (flexible scheduling)
- Float follows unit rotation – you will not be the first to float
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and physical therapy
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac floor experience required
- Travel nursing experience preferred (required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience)
- Active NC or Compact RN license (must be in hand by start date)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, PCU/step-down care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, sheath removal, cardiac drip management (with and without titration), chest tubes, and non-invasive airway management
- Experience with post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, and CPAP/BiPAP required
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Interview required prior to offer – please provide availability within 72 hours of submission
Preferred Qualifications:
- Arterial line management experience
- Wound care and wound VAC experience
- Charge nurse experience

Additional Information:
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
- Time off requests: up to 7 days can be auto-approved if not on a holiday; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- No time off allowed during orientation week; no additional RTO after booking
- Fatigue policy: cannot work more than 5 consecutive days or more than 60 hours per week
- 8–10 hours of non-billable modules required pre-start and annually
- Local candidates (within 50 miles) may be offered a different rate
