Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week assignment
Highlights:
- Cardiac telemetry and surgical step-down unit with varied patient acuity
- Patient ratios: 1:4 for surgical step-down, 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients
- Comprehensive cardiac and post-surgical case mix including CABG, TAVR, valve procedures, and post-cath care
- Epic charting system with 24 hours of paid orientation
- Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4 weeks (flexible scheduling)
- Full interdisciplinary support including respiratory, PT, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has 24+ months of cardiac experience
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, PCU/step-down care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with sheath removal, cardiac drips (management and titration), chest tubes, and non-invasive airway management
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Arterial line management experience
- Wound care and wound vac experience
- Previous charge nurse experience
- Epic charting system experience
Unit Information:
- 44-bed post-cardiac surgery and telemetry unit with daily census of 41 patients
- Patient population: Adults and geriatrics
- Common diagnoses: Atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, cardiomyopathy, PVD, and vascular conditions
- Special procedures: Post-CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, Watchman procedures, carotid endarterectomy, vascular surgeries, and post-electrophysiology care
- Equipment: Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, chest tubes, epicardial pacing wires, and cardiac drips
- Float requirement: Will follow unit rotation, not first to float
Important Notes:
- Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events
- No requested time off (RTO) allowed during first week of assignment
- Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Interview required prior to offer
- Local candidates (within 50 miles) offered at adjusted rate
