Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Surgical Oncology – Ohio

Start Date: February 9, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (day and night options available), self-scheduling with flexible weekend rotation based on unit needs

Highlights:

  • Mixed acuity unit caring for both PCU and Medical-Surgical patients with a focus on surgical oncology
  • Goal staffing ratio of 1:4, may flex to 1:5 depending on census
  • 36-bed unit with daily census of 36; specialized care for breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and reconstructive plastic surgery patients
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, and drip management (insulin, heparin)
  • Epic EMR system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, pharmacy, rapid response, and more
  • 72 hours of orientation: first week Monday-Friday dayshift, second week on-unit with preceptor

Requirements:

  • Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required
  • Strong surgical experience with demonstrated competency in surgical oncology or related specialties
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (ONS Chemo certification preferred)
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Experience with cardiac telemetry, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, dysrhythmia interpretation, and tracheostomy care
  • Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or director)
  • Must be available to complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon contract signing
  • Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
