Description
Start Date: March 9, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15), 36 hours per week, every third weekend required
Highlights:
- Work across a comprehensive pediatric and neonatal care environment including a 70+ bed NICU, 10-bed PICU, 32-bed Pediatrics Floor, and 14-bed Pediatric Emergency Department
- 50-60% of daily caseload involves critical NICU and PICU patients requiring advanced respiratory management
- 13-week contract with 36 hours of comprehensive unit orientation
- Float opportunities throughout pediatric units to expand clinical experience
- Epic charting system experience required; competency with advanced ventilator equipment including high-frequency oscillators, BiPAP/CPAP, and specialized nebulizer systems
- Call coverage may be required based on patient care needs
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of respiratory therapy experience required
- Active North Carolina or Compact State Respiratory Therapist license (must be in hand by start date)
- Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS, RRT
- Epic EMR experience required
- Previous travel experience required; first-time travelers will only be considered with exceptionally high-level, accurate skillsets
- NICU and PICU experience mandatory for this role
- Extensive competency in advanced airway management, mechanical ventilation (including high-frequency oscillators, SIMV, IMV, BiPAP, CPAP), pediatric and neonatal intubation assistance, and medication administration (including Albuterol, Nitric Oxide, Racemic Epinephrine, and others)
- Experience caring for patients with complex respiratory conditions including aspiration, COVID-19, cystic fibrosis, fresh tracheostomy, and pneumonia
- Proficiency with specialized equipment: Servo-I, Servo-N, HOFV-3100 A & B, Hamilton T1, Airvo heated HFNC, various BCPAP interfaces, and advanced nebulizer systems
- Strong ABG interpretation and chest physiotherapy skills required
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
