Description
Start Date: March 16, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-week contract. Every other weekend required. No changes to requested time off after booking.
Highlights:
- ED Holding unit caring for adult medical/surgical patients awaiting inpatient placement; may include PCU-level acuity
- Patient ratios: 1:7 for Med/Surg/Tele patients or 1:4 for PCU-level patients
- Float to Emergency Department and Med/Surg units as needed based on census and skill set
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication dispensing
- 12-hour orientation with manager-created scheduling
- Fast-paced environment with high acuity and diverse patient diagnoses
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Progressive Care
- Current North Carolina or Compact State RN license (must be active by start date)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
- Strong skills in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, and complex wound care
- Proficiency with feeding tubes, colostomy care, PICC lines, chest tubes, and non-invasive airway management including CPAP/BiPAP and high-flow nasal cannula
- Experience with isolation precautions, rapid response teams, heparin and insulin protocols
- Preferred experience with stroke care, neuro surgery, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, and accessing ports
- Candidates residing within 50 miles may be offered a local rate
- Up to 7 days of requested time off permitted (no RTO during first week or after booking)
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays and be available for storm/hurricane team assignments
