Description
Start Date: March 9, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, 3x12 or 4x12 schedules available, every third weekend required
Highlights:
- High-acuity pediatric and neonatal setting including 70+ bed NICU, 10-bed PICU, 32-bed Pediatrics Floor, and 14-bed Pediatric Emergency Department
- 50-60% of daily workload focused on NICU and PICU critical care cases requiring advanced ventilator management and airway expertise
- Comprehensive orientation with 36 hours of unit-specific training to ensure clinical confidence and competency
- Epic charting system used facility-wide with Pyxis medication management
- Float opportunities throughout pediatric units providing diverse clinical experience and skill development
- 13-week assignment with potential for extension based on performance and facility needs
Requirements:
- Active North Carolina or Compact state Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license
- Minimum 5 years of respiratory therapy experience with NICU and PICU experience required
- Current certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS, and RRT required at time of start
- Proficiency with Epic electronic medical record system strongly preferred
- Advanced ventilator management skills including BiPAP, CPAP, high frequency oscillator, IMV, SIMV, and weaning protocols
- Competency with specialized equipment including Servo-I, Servo-N, HOFV-3100, Alaris IV pumps, Airvo heated HFNC, Hamilton T1, and various nebulizer systems
- Expert-level airway management including endotracheal suctioning, intubation assistance, tracheostomy care, and extubation support
- Medication administration experience with respiratory medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Nitric Oxide, Pulmicort, and Racemic epinephrine
- Experience caring for patients with complex respiratory conditions including COVID, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
- Strong clinical judgment for ABG interpretation, chest physiotherapy, and troubleshooting ventilator alarms
- Previous travel experience required; candidates must demonstrate high-level accurate skillset and adaptability
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted); COVID-19 vaccination not required
