Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week; every other weekend required

Highlights:

• Specialized neuroscience unit caring primarily for stroke patients, plus epilepsy, subdural hematomas, brain tumors, and other neuro diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:6 with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, rapid response teams, and pharmacy services
• 13-week contract with 36-hour paid orientation
• Epic charting system with access to Pyxis and SBAR protocols
• Opportunity to work alongside a specialized 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
• Unit census of approximately 50 patients across 55 beds

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience required
• Previous travel experience mandatory – first-time travelers not accepted; must have completed at least 2 successful travel contracts
• Active NC or Compact RN license (must be in hand at start)
• Certifications: BLS, NIH, NIHSS required; ACLS preferred
• Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with neuroscience patients including CVA, seizure disorders, craniotomies, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries
• Comfort with floating to other Med/Surg and Tele units as needed, including possible COVID care areas
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
