Description
Start Date: March 9, 2026
Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available, every other weekend requirement
Highlights:
- ICU step-down environment caring for post-rapid response patients, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, and complex post-operative cases
- 3:1 or 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio with strong critical care exposure including arterial lines and vasoactive drip titration
- 13-week contract with Epic charting system and Pyxis medication management
- Diverse patient population including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with varied diagnoses including GI bleeds, withdrawal management, and post-surgical care
- First-time travelers accepted; comprehensive orientation provided with 24 hours of onboarding
- Floating only to sister ICCU unit as needed based on census
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of progressive care, step-down, or telemetry nursing experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
- North Carolina or Compact State RN license required at time of start
- Strong experience with arterial line management and titrating vasoactive drips (Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene) is mandatory
- Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management required; must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Experience with chest tubes, BIPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, central line care, and blood product administration
- IV start skills, conscious sedation experience, and knowledge of IV insulin and heparin protocols required
- Must be available for full orientation week including daily classes
- Epic charting experience strongly preferred

The unit operates similarly to an ICU environment, giving you the opportunity to maintain and enhance your critical thinking and advanced nursing skills while caring for a diverse patient population in a fast-paced, rewarding setting.
