Schedule: 12-hour day shifts; 36 or 48 hours per week available; every other weekend required; block scheduling options available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday)

Highlights:

• Fast-paced orthopedic and neuro spine unit specializing in post-surgical care and pain management
• 13-week contract with 36-hour orientation
• Patient ratios typically 5-6:1, with flex to 7:1 only in extreme circumstances
• Epic charting system required; comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, PT, respiratory, and rapid response teams
• Patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, medical-surgical, and post-surgical cases with an average daily census of 37
• Floating to other medical-surgical units within the facility may be required based on census needs

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with orthopedic work experience required
• Epic EMR experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers must have Epic experience
• Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license (must be in hand at start)
• Required certifications: BLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• Preferred certifications: ACLS
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Skills required: IV insertion, telemetry monitoring, spinal cord injury care, management of surgical drains and peripheral nerve block catheters, BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PCA management, experience with total joint replacement and orthopedic trauma patients
• Preferred experience: Charge nurse experience, Level I trauma center experience
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
