Description
Start Date: March 9, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 13-26 week assignments available, every other weekend required
Highlights:
- Work with a primarily medical-surgical patient population with oncology history on a 42-bed acute care unit
- Target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, lift teams, and rapid response teams
- Utilize Epic EMR and Pyxis medication management systems
- 24-hour orientation program (2 shifts) to ensure smooth transition to the unit
- First-time travelers welcome; gain valuable experience in a specialty setting
- Opportunity to administer chemotherapy and biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection routes
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in an inpatient setting
- Current BLS certification required
- Oncology Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required – must be able to administer chemotherapy
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Experience with Med/Surg, colostomy care, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, chest tubes, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
- Proficiency with heparin and insulin administration, surgical drains, and non-invasive airway management
- Must be willing to float to similar units and alternate care locations, including inpatient holding areas
- Flexibility to work Storm Team/Hurricane Team assignments and respond during catastrophic events or disasters
