Description
Start Date: March 16, 2026
Location: North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available; every other weekend required; block scheduling options available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday)
Highlights:
- Fast-paced orthopedic and neuro spine unit with post-surgical and med-surg patient population
- Patient ratio typically 5-6:1, may flex to 7:1 in extreme cases
- Epic EMR system required; 13-week contract assignment
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Focus on pain management for orthopedic and spine patients in a customer service-oriented environment
- Floating to other med-surg units may be required based on facility census needs
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with orthopedic experience required
- Epic EMR experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers must have Epic experience
- Active North Carolina or Compact State RN license (must be in hand by start date)
- Current certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale required; ACLS preferred
- Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, PCA pumps, and isolation precautions
- Experience with orthopedic trauma, total joint replacement, surgical drains, and neuro spine post-surgical patients preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Completion of 8-10 hours of non-billable online modules pre-start
