Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available; every other weekend required; block scheduling options available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday)

Highlights:

• Fast-paced orthopedic and neuro spine unit with post-surgical and med-surg patient population
• Patient ratio typically 5-6:1, may flex to 7:1 in extreme cases
• Epic EMR system required; 13-week contract assignment
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Focus on pain management for orthopedic and spine patients in a customer service-oriented environment
• Floating to other med-surg units may be required based on facility census needs

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with orthopedic experience required
• Epic EMR experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers must have Epic experience
• Active North Carolina or Compact State RN license (must be in hand by start date)
• Current certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale required; ACLS preferred
• Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, PCA pumps, and isolation precautions
• Experience with orthopedic trauma, total joint replacement, surgical drains, and neuro spine post-surgical patients preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Completion of 8-10 hours of non-billable online modules pre-start
