Description
Start Date: April 6, 2026
Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week, every other weekend required
Highlights:
- ICU stepdown unit with 1:3-4 nurse-to-patient ratios and 20-bed capacity
- Operates similarly to an ICU environment with advanced drip management and arterial line experience
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management
- 13-week contract assignments available for experienced travelers and first-time travelers
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- Patient population includes post-surgical, respiratory distress, GI bleeds, and hemodynamically unstable patients across adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of progressive care or stepdown nursing experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Strong experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips (Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene)
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, and blood product administration
- Competency in IV starts, conscious sedation, central line care, PICC line management, and heparin protocols
- Epic charting experience strongly preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Flexibility to float to sister ICCU unit as needed based on census
