Description
Start Date: April 13, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 0600-1900; Call once every four weeks; Weekend requirements vary
Highlights:
- Phase I PACU with diverse surgical case mix including vascular, neurosurgery, orthopedics, general, bariatric, gynecology, urology, plastics, ENT, ophthalmology, and pediatrics
- Challenging and varied recovery environment managing post-anesthesia patients from OR, EP Lab, Endo, IR, MRI, and ICU transfers
- 1:2 patient ratio with opportunities to manage ICU-level acuity patients in the PACU setting
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Individualized orientation program tailored to experience and skill level
- 24/7 operation with exposure to advanced equipment including cardiac monitoring, arterial lines, ICP monitoring, fetal heart monitors, and ventilators
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- ICU experience required (1-2 years minimum) – candidates must be comfortable managing ICU-level patients in PACU
- Phase I-II PACU experience required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS required
- Epic experience preferred
- Experience with conscious sedation, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition, central line care, ventilated patients, and pediatric care preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Willingness to float to short stay unit for overflow patients
- Availability to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Ability to participate in storm team/hurricane team assignments and report during catastrophic events or disasters
