Description
Start Date: April 20, 2026
Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 18:45–07:15, 36 hours per week, every other weekend required
Highlights:
- Post Open Heart Recovery Unit specializing in cardiac surgery patients directly from OR
- Advanced patient population including thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR procedures
- 1:1 patient ratio during nights, 2:1 on weekends; 14-bed unit with daily census of 11–14 patients
- Epic EMR with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- 13-week contract with self-scheduling flexibility and up to 7 days approved time off
- Work with specialized equipment including ECMO, IABP, Impella, VAD, and CRRT
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU or open heart experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Current North Carolina or Compact State RN license
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Required clinical skills: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, ECMO, IABP, post-cardiac surgery care, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, TAVR, VAD management, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, cardiac drip titration, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, and isolation precautions
- Preferred skills: port access/management, vasoactive drip titration, chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, and ventilator management
- Willingness to float within the facility as needed
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
