Description
Start Date: April 13, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15), 1:3-4 patient ratios; minimum of 3 weekend shifts every six weeks; float to other intermediate and critical care areas as needed
Highlights:
- Specialized neuro progressive care unit with diverse medical intermediate patient population (24-bed unit)
- Epic EMR system with 32 hours of comprehensive orientation including computer training and unit-specific shifts
- Contract lengths of 13 to 26 weeks available; 48-hour shifts may be offered
- Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and lift teams
- Advanced clinical experience with complex neurological conditions including CVA, TBI, craniotomy, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgery care
- Opportunity to work with cutting-edge protocols including titration of vasoactive drips, insulin protocols, and thrombolytic agents
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, or telemetry background required
- Previous travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers will not be accepted)
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required; CCRN, TNCC, and CPI preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- Demonstrated competency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, vasoactive drip titration (including Levophed), and central line management
- Extensive neuro-specific skills including management of lumbar drains, aneurysms, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal
- Respiratory care skills including ventilated patient care, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
- Proficiency with blood product administration, IV therapy, heparin and insulin protocols, PCA, and feeding tube management
- Strong adherence to attendance policies and professional behavioral standards
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
