Description
Start Date: May 4, 2026
Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, every other weekend and holiday required; floating to other ICUs, PACU, ED ICU holds, and IMC units as needed
Highlights:
- Advanced CVICU experience with fresh open-heart cases including CABG, valve repairs/replacements, and TAVR procedures
- 1:1 to 1:2 patient ratios; ratios may vary when floated to other units based on acuity
- Complex patient population including fresh hearts, ventilated patients, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and acute/chronic renal failure
- Hands-on experience with critical devices: Impella, IABP, CRRT (Prismax), Swan Ganz, FloTrac, temporary pacers, and arterial lines
- Epic charting system preferred; comprehensive interdisciplinary support including PT, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- First-time travelers welcome; locals accepted at the same rate
Requirements:
- Active New Jersey or Compact State RN license required at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of current CVICU experience (SICU experience may be considered with initial CVICU training)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must have hands-on experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using Prismax OR documented experience with fresh open-heart cases
- Proficiency in post-op open-heart recovery, Swan Ganz monitoring, temporary pacers, arterial lines, and chest tube management
- Strong background in managing ventilated patients, hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive drip titration, and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Willingness to float to all ICU levels, PACU, ED for ICU holding patients, and cardiac intermediate care units
- Availability to work every other weekend and holiday as applicable; time-off requests must be submitted and approved before offer acceptance
