Job Opportunity – Hospice Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: May 11, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours per week); On-call rotation Friday, Saturday, Sunday 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM every 4-5 weeks

Highlights:

  • Outpatient hospice care with an average of 5 patient visits per day (63-patient census)
  • Primarily geriatric patients with compassionate end-of-life care focus
  • Epic electronic medical record system; home health/hospice Epic experience a plus
  • 40-hour orientation period with comprehensive onboarding support
  • No float requirements; weekend on-call rotation for PRN patient needs and death visits
  • Mileage reimbursement at IRS standard rate

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
  • BLS certification required
  • Home health/hospice and skilled nursing work setting experience required
  • Demonstrated competency in end-of-life care, including after-treatment survivorship care and cultural awareness
  • Strong pain management skills including WHO Analgesic Ladder, breakthrough dosing, pediatric dosage calculations, pain assessment, and utilization of pain scales
  • Proficiency in symptom assessment and management: altered mental status, anorexia/cachexia, aphasia, constipation/diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, and pressure ulcer staging
  • Knowledge of Medicare state regulations, patient/family education, intake assessments, and goal setting with patients and families
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local candidates approved at travel rate
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
