Description
Start Date: June 15, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; scheduling reviewed every 4 weeks based on department needs
Highlights:
- 36-bed adult and geriatric medical surgical oncology unit with daily census of 36 patients
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
- Focus on chemotherapy administration with continuous cardiac monitoring, symptom management, and infection prevention protocols
- Epic EMR system with 72 hours of orientation provided
- Common diagnoses include breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, plus sickle cell crises
- Equipment includes GE telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, bladder scanners, and Stryker beds
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; at least 1 year of current specialty experience within the most recent 3 years
- Valid compact or Ohio state RN license in hand at time of submission
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Previous travel experience preferred but not required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Must be willing to float to other medical surgical oncology units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Two professional references required: at least one from a manager, director, or formal supervisor
Essential Skills:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Accessing and managing ports, PICC lines, central lines, and arterial lines
- Blood product and chemotherapy administration
- IV starts and maintenance
- BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
- Chest tube assistance and management
- Insulin drip titration and PCA management
- Interpretation of ABGs

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
