Job Opportunity – Medical Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: June 15, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; scheduling reviewed every 4 weeks based on department needs

Highlights:

• 36-bed adult and geriatric medical surgical oncology unit with daily census of 36 patients
• 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
• Focus on chemotherapy administration with continuous cardiac monitoring, symptom management, and infection prevention protocols
• Epic EMR system with 72 hours of orientation provided
• Common diagnoses include breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, plus sickle cell crises
• Equipment includes GE telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, bladder scanners, and Stryker beds

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; at least 1 year of current specialty experience within the most recent 3 years
• Valid compact or Ohio state RN license in hand at time of submission
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Previous travel experience preferred but not required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Must be willing to float to other medical surgical oncology units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required: at least one from a manager, director, or formal supervisor

Essential Skills:

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Accessing and managing ports, PICC lines, central lines, and arterial lines
• Blood product and chemotherapy administration
• IV starts and maintenance
• BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
• Chest tube assistance and management
• Insulin drip titration and PCA management
• Interpretation of ABGs
