Description
Start Date: August 10, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (days, nights, or combination based on facility needs); self-scheduling with unit-based review every 4 weeks; weekend coverage variable
Highlights:
- Work in a 318-bed comprehensive cancer center with specialized oncology units
- Float to multiple oncology specialties including BMT, Acute Leukemia, Hematology, Medical Oncology, PCU Oncology, Gynecological Oncology, Urology, Colorectal, and Surgical Oncology
- PCU staffing ratios of 1:3 to 1:4 with mixed acuity; Med/Surg Telemetry 1:4 to 1:5
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- 100 hours of orientation including one week of day shift orientation followed by bedside training
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient safety
Requirements:
- Minimum 2+ years of high acuity PCU level or higher experience required (current and consistent within the last 12 months)
- Oncology experience strongly preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license in hand at time of application)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Epic charting experience required
- Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Patient ratio experience managing up to 4 patients
- Strong skills in chemotherapy administration and monitoring, port management, central line care, blood product administration, and oncology-specific procedures preferred
- 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal supervisor)

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
