Description
Start Date: May 4, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week assignments available
Highlights:
- Post-cardiac surgery unit specializing in complex cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures
- Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical step down, 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients
- 24-hour orientation with Epic EMR and comprehensive interdisciplinary support
- Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4 weeks with flexible scheduling
- Float within unit rotation – not first to float
- Experience with advanced cardiac interventions including TAVR, Watchman procedures, and sheath management
Requirements:
- Active North Carolina or Compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac floor experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has 24+ months of cardiac experience
- Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac drip titration, sheath removal, and post-cardiac catheterization care
- Experience with chest tubes, non-invasive airway management including CPAP/BiPAP, and nasal cannula
- Competency in managing post-MI patients and cardiac surgical patients
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Epic charting experience preferred

- Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations
- Local candidates accepted with adjusted compensation structure
- Time off requests of 7 days or less can be auto-approved if not during holidays or first week of assignment
- Pre-start modules required (8-10 hours, non-billable)
