Description
Start Date: August 10, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (days, nights, or combination); schedule reviewed every 4-week period based on departmental needs
Highlights:
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical oncology nursing in a secure corrections healthcare setting
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for Med-Surg
- EPIC charting system and Pyxis medication management
- Float opportunities across various oncology units to broaden clinical experience
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Respiratory Services, Physical Therapy, and Social Services
- 72 hours of orientation provided; one pre-approved time off period available
Requirements:
- Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience in Med-Surg/Telemetry or PCU setting
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Oncology experience strongly preferred but not required
- Competency in cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, central line management, blood product administration, respiratory support (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC), and management of dysrhythmias
- Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal supervisor)
- Ability to complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly upon contract signing

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
