Description
Start Date: May 18, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required
Highlights:
- Comprehensive Stroke Center specializing in ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, and complex neurosurgical cases
- Patient ratios typically 2:1, may flex to 3:1 during high census with average daily census of 11-12 patients
- 13-week contract with 24 hours of orientation (2 shifts)
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, PT, respiratory services, rapid response, and pharmacy
- Advanced neuro equipment including EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino ICP monitoring, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
- Float requirement within the facility based on unit needs and census
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU experience required (general ICU does not qualify)
- Must have previous travel nursing experience; first-time travelers will not be accepted
- Active NC or Compact RN license (must be in hand at start)
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Strong clinical skills including ventilator management, IV starts, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, EVD and lumbar drain experience, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgery care
- Epic charting experience required
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Comfortable with floating to other units based on skill set and patient care needs
