Description
Start Date: May 18, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required
Highlights:
- Comprehensive Stroke Center specializing in ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, and complex neurosurgical cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1 (may flex to 3:1 during high census)
- Average daily census of 11-12 patients in a 13-bed unit
- Epic charting system with full interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- Advanced neuro equipment including EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino ICP monitoring, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
- 24 hours of orientation, floating required to other units based on census and skillset
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU experience required – general ICU does not qualify
- Strong stroke management experience (largest patient population)
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
- Previous travel nursing experience required – first-time travelers will not be accepted
- Proficiency with ventilators, IV starts, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line management, continuous IV sedation, and CVA/acute stroke protocols
- Experience with external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-neurosurgery patient management
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Epic charting experience required
