Description
Start Date: June 15, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-week contract available. Every other weekend required. 12-hour orientation provided.
Highlights:
- ED Holding support position within Float Pool serving patients awaiting inpatient bed placement
- Patient ratios: 1:6 for MS/Tele patients or 1:4 for PCU-level acuity
- Diverse case mix including adult medical/surgical diagnoses with potential PCU-level patients
- Epic EMR system with Pyxis medication management and standard monitoring equipment
- Float opportunities to Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical areas based on unit needs
- Maximum 7 days RTO allowed; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in MS/Tele or similar acute care setting
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Core skills: telemetry monitoring and interpretation, dysrhythmia management, blood product administration, feeding tube and colostomy care, peripheral and PICC line management, heparin and insulin protocols, respiratory support (CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula), chest tube management, phlebotomy, and isolation precautions
- Preferred skills: IV starts, central line management, accessing ports, pre/post hemodialysis care, CVA care, neurosurgery patients, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and wound care/wound vac experience
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Willingness to float to ED and Med/Surg units as needed based on census and skill set
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
