Description
Start Date: June 15, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week assignment available
Highlights:
- Post-cardiac surgery unit specializing in complex cardiac and thoracic procedures including CABG, TAVR, VATS, and vascular surgeries
- Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical step-down, 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- 24-hour orientation program with unit rotation floating policy (not first to float)
- Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4 weeks with flexible scheduling
- 43-room unit with daily census of approximately 41 patients
Requirements:
- Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
- Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, PCU/step-down care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, sheath removal, cardiac drip management and titration, and chest tube care
- Experience with post-MI care, pre/post cardiac catheterization, and non-invasive airway management including CPAP/BIPAP
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Willingness to serve on Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events as needed
