Description
Start Date: July 13, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Days or Nights available based on traveler preference
Highlights:
- Work in a specialized Observation Unit managing short-stay patients (up to two midnights) with Med-Surg, Telemetry, and Oncology diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:4 with charge nurse support and interdisciplinary team resources including IV teams, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
- Treat diverse patient population including chemotherapy symptom management, post-procedure monitoring, electrolyte abnormalities, and palliative care
- Epic charting system in a well-resourced environment with PCAs, UCAs, and advanced practice providers
- 72 hours of comprehensive orientation provided; first-time travelers accepted
- May occasionally float to emergency department to assist with Med-Surg telemetry patients with full orientation provided
Requirements:
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg/Telemetry experience (must include at least 1 year current specialty experience)
- Required certifications: BLS (BCLS)
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, OCN
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV management, PICC line care, and Epic documentation
- Experience with oncology patients, BiPAP/CPAP, blood product administration, insulin protocols, and central line management preferred
- Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Two professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal supervisor)
- Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required

Important Compliance Notes:
- Strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start date
- Ohio fingerprinting must be completed immediately upon contract signing
- Candidates within driving distance of Ohio must travel to in-state fingerprinting location; detailed instructions provided by credentialing team
- Former employees eligible after 6 months away from facility; current employees not eligible for travel assignments
- One pre-approved time-off period available (must be specified at submission)

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
