Description
Start Date: June 29, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 or 48 hours per week available. 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio on a 24-bed unit. Weekend requirement: minimum of 3 weekend shifts every six weeks. No call required.
Highlights:
- Specialized neuro stepdown unit caring for intermediate neurological and medical patients including CVA, traumatic brain injury, post-neurosurgery, aneurysms, and spinal cord injury
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- Contract lengths of 13 to 26 weeks available
- Comprehensive 32-hour orientation including computer training and unit-based precepting
- Floating to other intermediate and critical care areas provides diverse clinical experience
- Supportive team environment with strong behavioral expectations and collaborative care model
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC, or telemetry experience strongly preferred
- Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; CCRN, TNCC, and CPI preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
- Proficiency in titrating vasoactive drips including levophed, heparin protocols, and insulin drips
- Strong skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and emergency response
- Experience with ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and chest tubes
- Competency in central line care, PICC management, blood product administration, and IV therapy
- Neurological critical care skills including lumbar drains, post-TPA care, seizure management, craniotomy care, and intracranial bleed management
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Completion of 8-10 hours of pre-start online modules using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
- Ability to adhere to strict attendance and call-off policies
