Description
Start Date: July 27, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 1845-0715, 36 hours per week; 4 weekends per 4-week period (flexible)
Highlights:
- Work with a diverse cardiac and cardiovascular surgical patient population including post-CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, and vascular procedures
- Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical stepdown, 1:5-6 for lower acuity telemetry patients
- Epic charting system with 24 hours of unit orientation provided
- Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks accepted with up to 7 days pre-approved time off (excluding holidays)
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
- 44-bed unit with daily census of approximately 41 patients
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac telemetry or stepdown experience required
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Core competencies required: cardiac telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, sheath removal, pre/post cardiac cath care, management and titration of cardiac drips, chest tube management, non-invasive airway management including BiPAP/CPAP
- Experience with patient diagnoses including atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, and vascular conditions
- Proficiency with equipment including Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR bands, and epicardial pacing wires
- Willingness to participate in facility float rotation and storm/hurricane team protocols
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Arterial line management experience
- Wound care and wound vac experience
- Previous charge nurse experience
- Epic charting system experience
