Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (days/nights). Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on departmental needs. Weekend coverage variable based on unit needs. 72 hours of orientation provided.

Highlights:

Specialized acute leukemia and hematology oncology unit caring primarily for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
Medical-surgical focus with high volume of blood products, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
Goal staffing ratio of 1:4, maximum 1:5
24-bed unit with daily census of approximately 22 patients, serving adult and geriatric populations
Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, rapid response teams, and respiratory services
GE telemetry monitoring system with Alaris pumps and modern equipment

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of overall nursing experience required
Current, recent acute care experience in medical-surgical oncology and at least one inpatient hematology oncology setting within the last 12 months (required)
Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not eligible
Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
BLS, ACLS, and ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Certification required
NIHSS certification preferred
Graduation from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
Demonstrated expertise with leukemia/blood dyscrasias, administration of chemotherapy and blood products, central line management, PICC lines, IV therapy, and telemetry interpretation
Proficiency with Epic charting system required
Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon contract acceptance

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.

Cons

Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
