Description
Start Date: September 21, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (Days/Nights or Night only options available); staffing reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on departmental needs
Highlights:
- 36-bed Medical Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) level of care
- Patient ratio of 1:3 for PCU patients and 1:4-5 for Med-Surg Telemetry patients
- High-acuity progressive care environment treating solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology patients
- Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Pharmacy, Respiratory Services, Physical Therapy, and Rapid Response Teams
- Oncology experience preferred but not required; nurses with ICU and PCU backgrounds excel in this setting
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient safety measures
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of current PCU experience
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at submission)
- Current certifications: BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Competency in dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response protocols, accessing ports, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, PICC line care, IV placement, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management, PCA pumps, chest tube management, and high-flow nasal cannula
- Experience with feeding tube care, tracheostomy management, CPAP/BiPAP, and arterial blood gas interpretation
- Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership role)
- Previous travel experience preferred
- Education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program

Additional Information:
- Comprehensive orientation: First week Monday-Friday day shift general orientation, followed by 36 hours of on-unit preceptorship

- Float requirements to other PCU or Medical-Surgical Oncology units as needed
- Weekend shifts variable based on unit needs
Note: Compliance requirements include Ohio fingerprinting process with strict deadlines. Candidates must be responsive and cooperative with credentialing team to ensure timely start date.

Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
