Description
Start Date: July 27, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week, every other weekend required
Highlights:
- Ortho/Neuro/Trauma specialty unit with adult patient population and daily census of 32
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management
- Patient ratios of 1:6-7 with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, rapid response, pharmacy, and lift teams
- First-time travelers accepted; local candidates welcome
- Floating to similar units and alternate care locations as needed
- Contract length flexible with up to 7 days of approved time off
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact license accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience within the last 5 years
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Epic documentation experience required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Proficiency in IV therapy, heparin drips, blood product administration, central/peripheral line management, PCA, colostomy care, feeding tube management, phlebotomy, PICC line management
- Experience with dysrhythmia management, oxygen protocol, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, traumatic brain injury care, orthopedic trauma, surgical drains, chest tubes, tracheostomy management, and wound care
- Comfortable managing patient ratios of 1:6-7
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

This position offers the chance to work with a diverse patient population including orthopedic trauma, neurological injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and spine injuries in a well-supported acute care environment. You'll have access to robust interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams, allowing you to provide comprehensive patient care. The unit provides extensive orientation including 12 hours of unit-specific training and 16 hours of organizational education, ensuring you're set up for success from day one.
Note: Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters. Unit consolidation may occur mid-contract with reassignment as needed.
