Description
Start Date: August 3, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Day shift, 36 or 48 hours per week, every other weekend required
Highlights:
- ED Holding support position managing patients awaiting inpatient beds with medical/surgical and PCU-level diagnoses
- Patient ratios: 1:6 for MS/Tele, 1:4 for PCU acuity patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Epic documentation system with 12-hour orientation provided
- Float pool assignment with flexibility to support Emergency Department and Med/Surg areas as needed
- 13-week contract with up to 7 days approved time off (no first-week requests)
- Collaborative interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and radiology
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
- Active North Carolina or Compact RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Proficiency in MS/Tele, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote)
- Strong skills in blood product administration, peripheral/PICC line management, phlebotomy, insulin and heparin protocols
- Experience with colostomy care, feeding tubes, renal failure management, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
- Willingness to float to Emergency Department and Med/Surg units as needed
- Availability to serve on Storm/Hurricane Team as required during catastrophic events
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
